Ukrainian PM and German Development Minister discuss Ukraine’s post-conflict recovery

kyiv, May 27 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Friday that he discussed his country’s post-conflict reconstruction with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze during their talks in Kyiv.

“Ukraine must restore infrastructure in the liberated regions as soon as possible to ensure normal logistics and operation of businesses,” Shmyhal wrote on Telegram after the talks.

Financial support for small and medium-sized businesses will also help stabilize Ukraine’s economy, Shmyhal added.

Prime Minister said he spoke with Schulze about the outcome of the Group of Seven (G7) development ministers’ meeting in Berlin last week and called on G7 countries to take the lead in rebuilding Ukraine .

Shmyhal said he told Schulze about a global platform called United24 (U24) to collect charitable donations for Ukraine.

In addition, Shmyhal said that Kyiv counts on Germany’s support for Ukraine’s European integration.

For its part, Ukraine stands ready to contribute to food security, energy transition, digitalization and enhanced collective security of the European Union, and to offer a promising new market for European products, added Shmyhal.
